Time for the annual update! A quick perusal of the change list will show that I still don't know what I'm doing, but I do think the current version is a little better. At least there are things to shoot at again.
I'm not sure where this game will go from here. I still think the concept has potential, but it may need a ground-up remake and a reevaluation of scope to make it into a feasible project for me. For now, this is more of a project playground where I can experiment and learn, which is why I've done things like spend time on a renaming system when there's no real game loop to be had.
